November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month
Contact us for a free "Hope for the Cure" pin
As noted in our recent newsletter, the Doran & Murphy
Express, November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month. Let us know what you are doing
to bring awareness to this disease – you might end up featured in
the next edition of our newsletter!
Here are some helpful links:
Lung Cancer Alliance – Shine a Light on Lung Cancer – Tuesday, November 1, 2011
– This international vigil is intended to raise money and awareness
for lung cancer. Join a vigil (there are vigils registered in Buffalo,
Syracuse, Binghamton, Scranton, Pittsburgh, Hershey, Cincinnati, Marysville,
Bloomfield, Edgewood and Gainesville) or start one in your own area.
American Cancer Society – Great American Smokeout – November 17, 2011 – Asbestos
exposure is a big risk factor for lung cancer. When asbestos exposure
is combined with tobacco smoke there is a synergistic effect. This means
that the resulting risk when asbestos and tobacco smoke are combined is
much greater than if you just add the risks together.
Choose Hope – If you would like to get lung cancer ribbons, t-shirts, magnets
and other products to show your support, this site donates to cancer research
facilities across the country.
If you are a railroad worker (active or retired) with lung cancer, a railroader
who is a cancer survivor, the spouse, parent or child of a railroader
who has had lung cancer, give us a call at 1-800-374-2144 for a free “Hope
for the Cure” lung cancer awareness pin and a copy of the Fall/Winter
2011 edition of the Doran & Murphy
